We have found that many boats - ours included - are lacking
in hand holds at the foot of the companionways stairs. Going below in heavy weather and not finding something convenient to
grab a hold of is an invitation to an accident. Grab rails on the coach roof are often just out of reach for some
people - particularly children.
We addressed the problem by designing a 1" OD stainless
steel Safety Grab Rail with mounting flanges welded to each end. In our boat the Safety Grab Rail installs between the galley top
and the coach roof. In the picture you can see that we also incorporated three equi-spaced welded eyes near the top
of the pole. These accomodate attaching clothes lines for those occasions when you just have to have somewhere down below
to dry wet clothing.
The safety grab rail is a custom item that we supply
to fit your vessel. The lower flange can be oriented to mount on either a horizontal or a vertical surface.
